Breeding Objectives
At Beasley Angus, our breeding program is centered around one clear goal: to produce cattle that deliver elite performance and product merit without compromising long-term functionality. We emphasize traits that matter most in real-world operations—growth, carcass value, structural soundness, and fertility.
We apply disciplined selection pressure to retain only those females that breed back annually and produce calves with the kind of genetic merit that drives profitability. Our cows must do their job year in and year out, and their calves must meet the mark for growth, and carcass quality. We believe maternal excellence and elite end-product value are essential together.
To align our commercial program with the genetic progress of our registered herd, we actively use tools like Angus Link and the GeneMax Advantage commercial heifer test. These genomic tests allow us to benchmark our commercial females alongside our registered cattle, giving us deeper insight into traits like growth, carcass merit, and maternal function.
By use of genomic enhanced data to identify top-performing commercial heifers, we retain females that align with our elite selection criteria—and cull those that don’t meet the mark. This approach improves our entire cow herd over time, not just on paper but in real-world results, ensuring our commercial and seedstock programs move forward together.
Our program is built to bridge the gap between elite high-indexing registered genetics and progressive commercial cow herds. We don’t just chase numbers—we focus on cattle that excel both on paper, in the pasture, and on the plate. By combining data-based selection on the registered herd and disciplined culling and benchmarking in the commercial cattle we are building a cow base built for long-term production and “real world” performance.
